Abstract
The panel will discuss the evolving digital economy landscape in India, impending policy changes on privacy, data protection, e-commerce, artificial intelligence and 5G, and the impact on business innovations and finance. The panel will also discuss the use and management of emerging technologies, and the transition to a digital economy for businesses and finance.

Mr. Deepak Maheshwari is a Strategic Consultant – Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs and Research. He has a keen interest in the interplay of policy with technological innovations and socio-economic development. He has previously led the public policy team for Symantec, MasterCard, Microsoft and Sify for more than two decades across India, ASEAN and Greater China. An oft-invited speaker, his views and reviews have been widely published and cited. He has served on several associations, academic institutions, government committees and professional bodies including but not limited to NIXI, ISP Association of India, IAMAI, BSA, AMCHAM, USIBC, IIMA, and the ITU-APT Foundation of India. He is a graduate in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, and also has a degree in law.

Mr. Vivan Sharan is a Partner at the Koan Advisory Group, a policy research and advocacy firm based in New Delhi. He previously served as the Chief Executive of the Global Governance programme at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and as the Business Head of a sustainability company that ran India’s first energy efficiency index. He is a Visiting Fellow at ORF and on the Board of the Esya Centre, a technology policy think-tank. He is also the author of “Wonked!: India in Search of an Economic Ideology”, published by Bloomsbury in 2019.
